A Mortal Blow to the Confederacy book cover

President of Miami Civil War Round Table Book Club Reviews A Mortal Blow

The latest review of my new book, A Mortal Blow to the Confederacy: The Fall of New Orleans, 1862, was recently published on StrategyPage, a website news site devoted to military affairs. David Marshall, a high school American history teacher for three decades and president of the Miami Civil War Round Table Book Club, wrote the review. Excerpt from David Marshall’s Review of A Mortal Blow “Bielski writes very well and weaves the words of the participants into the narrative, including comments from Farragut, Butler, David Porter, Davis, Moore, Tweed, P.G.T. Beauregard, and others. Four excellent maps, by cartographer Hal Jespersen, and many photographs supplement Bielski’s text Overall, A Mortal Blow to the Confederacy is a long-needed addition to the story of the fall of the Confederacy and will make a fine addition to the reading list of anyone interested in the history of the Civil War, explaining why New Orleans fell seemingly due to its negligible resistance. Bielski has hit a home run with A Mortal Blow to the Confederacy, and Savas Beatie has added another good book to their “Emerging Civil War” series.” Read the entire book review on StrategyPage > About StrategyPage StrategyPage provides quick, easy access…
